A workshop for pastors, church leaders and members will take place next month to discuss financial decisions that affect the church. The workshop is entitled "Church Money Matters" and will be led by financial advisor, minister and professor Preston Gilson. The workshop will take place Oct. 22 at the Rickman Center, a Disciples retreat center in Jefferson City, Mo. The gathering is sponsored by the Missouri School of Religion.
The workshop is in response to a survey taken by the MSR at the recent General Assembly in Indianapolis. "People at the Assembly and in other surveys, pastors and church members were asking how to think about church money, handle it responsibly and the impact it can have on the mission of the church," said Fran Schnarre, director of educational ministries at Missouri School of Religion. People also wanted to know how to avoid inappropriate abuses of money. To register or get more information, see:
