Jesus Seminar On Road To Discuss Peter, Paul And Mary; Saltsburg Lecture Set For Christian Theological

The roles of three early Christian voices – Peter, Paul and Mary Magdalene – will be explored when the “Jesus Seminar on the Road” travels to Oklahoma City, Okla., Sept. 25-26. The lecture topics at the two-day gathering will include, “Mary Magdalene, the Woman Who Knew Too Much”; “Peter and Paul: Face-off in Antioch”; and “Christian Origins: Historical and Ethical Issues for the Church.” The featured speakers will be Bernard Brandon Scott, professor of New Testament at Phillips Theological Seminary, and Kathleen E. Corley, a professor at the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh. Learn more (PDF).

In addition, the portrayal of Jesus and Christian identity in Latin America and the Hispanic Caribbean will be addressed at the Saltsburg Distinguished Lecture Series later this month. The lecture series will be held at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis Sept. 23-24. Carlos F. Cardoza-Orlandi, professor of World Christianity at Columbia Theological Seminary, will be the featured speaker. The Saltsburg Lecture is free and open to the public.
