Jewish, Christian and Muslim leaders of the National Interreligious Leadership Initiative for Peace in the Middle East (NILI) sent a letter to President Barack Obama last week offering their ideas and support in working with the Obama administration for a lasting peace between Israelis, Palestinians and their Arab neighbors. The letter was signed by leaders of NILI, including General Minister and President Sharon E. Watkins. The group also requested a meeting with the president, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Special Middle East Envoy George Mitchell.
In their letter to Obama, the NILI members expressed their continued hope for "both a viable two-state solution, acceptable to majorities of Israelis and Palestinians and a final comprehensive peace between Israel and all her Arab neighbors."
