The Disciples of Christ Historical Society has opened a new exhibit that features the practice of communion in the Stone-Campbell movement. Central to the exhibit are two communion tables. The exhibit is located at the T.W. Phillips Memorial Archives and also includes texts, photographs and other artifacts.
All three streams of the Stone-Campbell movement, the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and the Churches of Christ, practice weekly communion. One of the tables in the exhibit was used at the 1909 Centennial Convention to serve communion. The other table was constructed with 2,000 individual blocks of wood, and painted by some of those who attended the 2009 General Assembly.
