Two Indiana churches are among the first in the Indiana Region to announce carpooling plans to help bring members to the 2009 General Assembly in Indianapolis. First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Bloomington has invited its members to spend Aug. 1 at the Assembly. Additionally, members of North Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Columbus will travel to the Assembly's opening worship service on the evening of July 29. The General Assembly takes place July 29 - Aug. 2.
First Christian has reserved three 12-passenger vans for the trip to the Indiana Convention Center for a spirit-filled day with thousands of Disciples from across the United States and Canada. It also is offering to pay the $50, one-day registration fee for its members and is receiving donations to help defray the cost. North Christian plans to use cars and vans for the trip.
The Indiana Region is encouraging other Disciples churches within driving distance of the Assembly to do the same.
