Efforts are underway to make the Disciples 2009 General Assembly in Indianapolis a more environmentally-friendly event. A space has been reserved in the Exhibit Hall to display Disciples congregations' green practices that minimize negative impacts on the environment. It will be an opportunity for environmentally conscious congregations to share the ways in which Disciples can become better stewards of the Earth with which God has entrusted us. Participating congregations will create a display with congregational volunteers to explain their project and answer questions.

Interested congregations should submit a proposal detailing their green efforts and how they plan to share their green success at the General Assembly. Submit one-page proposals to the Green Team, in care of Angela Herrmann, at aherrman@dhm.disciples.org by May 15. The Assembly Green Team will review the proposals and select the 'greenest of the green.' Congregations will be notified of their scheduled time in the Exhibit Hall promptly after review of the proposals to allow for time to prepare their display and secure volunteers.
