Created in 1998, the work of the Mission Council brings people
together to engage in activities that strengthen congregations for
mission around six vital issues of the church. These issues, as
determined by the General Board, are to be addressed if we are to
become a “growing and faithful” church: Spiritual vitality
and faith development, Leadership development, Evangelism and witness
Worship, Congregational hospitality and inclusiveness, Justice,
reconciliation, service and public advocacy
“Working groups,” related to each issue, have been
formed and are comprised of people who have a passion, vision, and
expertise related to each issue. New partnerships and collaborative
efforts are encouraged and celebrated as information is exchanged.
Together the Mission Council and Working Group members strive to
help the whole church understand and explore the mission of the
church through the lens of each particular vital issue.
