At the Cincinnati General
Assembly in 1999, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) was
called to "Welcome Each Child in the Name of Jesus."
Part of this effort to be more welcoming of children is manifested
in these prayers for the safety and nurture of all children.
Guidelines
for submissions:
- Have and adult
and a child write the prayer together
- Provide brief biographical
sketches on the prayer composers
- A picture (preferably
digital) of the prayer composers is requested, but not required
- Prayers should
be about 100 words in length
- Prayers need to
address issues related to nurturing and protecting children in
congregations and in the wide community and world.
