INDIANAPOLIS (DNS) -- The Rev. Kaye S. Edwards of Lynchburg, Va.,
has been called as associate for family and children's ministry in Homeland
Ministries' Center for Education and Mission. She begins her new assignment
May 2.
Since 1989 Edwards has been associate minister for Christian education and
youth at First Christian Church, Lynchburg. She previously served as director
of family life programs for Family Services of Central Virginia.
The Lexington, Ky., native has a bachelor's degree from Lynchburg College,
and a master of divinity degree from Lexington Theological Seminary. She
also has studied at the University of Kentucky Graduate School of Social
Professions, and participated in workshops on family violence, child abuse
and youth ministry.
The new HM associate currently is district youth advisor, a member of the
Virginia regional clergy committee, and a past member of the region's youth
ministry committee.
Her ecumenical involvements include serving as a board member of the Mt.
Tabor Spiritual Retreat Center, an AIDS service planning board, a local
women's ministry group and the District V minister's association. She also
is a past vice president of the Kumbayah Ecumenical Advisory Board.
Edwards' other community affiliations included the Mental Health Association
Professional Education Committee, and several advisory boards on teen
parents, child abuse and neglect, school resources, and youth services.
Her spouse, the Rev. David L. Edwards, is senior minister of First Christian
Church, Lynchburg. The couple has two children.
