Suggs will retire after eight years as CBP president and more than 40 years of service in the congregational, regional and general manifestations of the church and among international and ecumenical partners. White, who has been director of product management for the United Methodist house for the past four years, previously held positions in product management, market research, operations and marketing. He was a marketer for the Nashville Symphony Association for three years before going to UMPH in 1987. In his current post, White has led marketing for $24 million in sales of products of UMPH and outside suppliers. He has directed the work of product managers for academic, professional and general interest markets. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in theater arts from Mars Hill (N.C.) College in 1981 and a master of business administration degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville in 1986. He is a professional member of the American Marketing Association. He also has been a member of Presbyterian, Episcopal and United Methodist congregations. He and his wife, Cynthia Salley White, have a daughter, Sarah. Cynthia White is a grants administrator for Vanderbilt University. White's appointment was announced by Thomas C. Wood of Charlotte, N.C., chairperson of the CBP board of directors.
