NEW YORK (DNS) -- A New York City congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ),
touched by death in the World Trade Center attack is now grieving the loss of a long-time member
and members of her family in this month's plane crash in New York.

Mercedes Roman, for 34 years a member of Tercera Iglesia Cristiana (Disc¡pulos de Cristo), was
among the 265 persons killed Nov. 12 when American Airlines flight 587 crashed into a Queens
neighborhood shortly after takeoff from New York's Kennedy airport. Roman's brother, Juan De
La Cruz; his wife, Maria; and their daughter, Alexandra died in the crash as well. They were
traveling with Roman on a family visit to their native Dominican Republic.

The Sept. 11 Trade Center attack claimed the life of Jose De Pena, a member of Tercera Iglesia,
and Esmerlin Salcedo, the son of church member Mirian Salcedo.
