INDIANAPOLIS (DNS) -- The Rev. Ronald L. Parker, Bloomington, Ind., is the new regional minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Central Rocky Mountain region.
Parker comes to the new post from a 16-year tenure as senior minister with First Christian Church in Bloomington. He began with the Central Rocky Mountain region Nov. 1.
The regional-minister-elect was associate regional minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Indiana from 1979 to 1984 and has held pastorates in Connecticut and New York.
He has served on numerous committees and commissions in the Northeast and Indiana regions. Parker also has been active with ministerial groups and human service agencies in Elmira, N.Y., and in Bloomington. While in Bloomington he served on the Monroe County United Ministries board and chaired its personnel committee. He also served on an advisory board with Indiana University and was a student advocate at the IU campus.
A native of Colorado Springs, Colo., he has a bachelor of arts degree (1965) from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa. He earned a master of divinity degree (1969) from Yale University Divinity School, New Haven, Conn., and a doctor of ministry degree (1982) from Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis.
He and his spouse, Kathleen, have two adult children, David and Kristin.
