INDIANAPOLIS (DNS) -- A former U.S. Army chaplain has been installed as regional minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Florida.
The Rev. William C. Morrison, Jr., was installed Oct. 28 during the Florida regional assembly. He began his new ministry Oct. 16.
Morrison comes to the Florida region after a 24-year career as a military chaplain, most recently with the U.S. Army Material Command in Alexandria, Va. He also has served overseas posts in Frankfurt, Germany, and Saudi Arabia.
The Charleston, W.Va., native earned master of divinity and business administration degrees from Howard University School of Divinity, Washington, D.C., (1976) and Golden Gate University, San Francisco, Calif., (1985).
Morrison has served on the military endorsement committee for Homeland Ministries and a search committee for HM's director of chaplaincy and specialized ministries. He also is a member of the Military Chaplains Association of the USA.
Active in his community, he is a former board member of the Frazier Center Advisory Board, Hinesville Ga., and the Fort Stewart/ Hinesville Ministerial Association.
He and his wife, Gloria Jean, have two adults sons, Alvin and Angelo.
