LINCOLN, Neb. (DNS) -- A Helena, Mont., pastor has been called as the next regional minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Nebraska.

The Rev. Kenneth W. Moore's appointment was unanimously endorsed May 6 by the regional board. He also will serve as administrator of Cotner College, a continuing education program for Nebraska lay and clergy leaders. In Nebraska, the regional board is the body which extends the call to the regional minister's position.

Moore has been senior minister of First Christian Church in Helena since 1986. His new ministry begins July 15.

He served as pastor of First Christian Church in Manteca, Calif., from 1980 to 1985, and was on the staff of the Christian Church in Northern California from 1976 to 1980. While there, he worked in the areas of evangelism and interim ministry.

During his tenure in Helena, Moore was president of both the Montana Association of Churches and the city's ministerial association. He is a past president of Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies of Montana and the Helena Kiwanis; a former vice president of the Lewis and Clark AIDS Project; and was coordinator of the Helena Area CROP Walk.

Moore has been moderator of the Montana region and served as chair of its outreach and ministry commissions. He also was major gifts director of the "Embrace the Future" capital campaign.

The regional minister-elect received master of arts and master of divinity degrees from Pacific School of Religion, Berkeley, Calif., and a doctor of ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago. He was originally affiliated with the American Baptist Churches of the USA.

Moore, his wife, Susan, and their son, James, will live in Lincoln. His daughter, Kristine, lives in Berkeley, Calif.
