Cane Ridge Co-Curators to Step Down December 31, 2006

PARIS, Ky. -- After eight years as Co-Curators of Cane Ridge Preservation Shrine, The Revs. Diane and Robert Steffer have announced their intention to resign their positions by Dec. 31, 2006. The Steffers made the announcement to the Cane Ridge Meeting House Board of Trustees during its Jan. 8 meeting.

“The last eight years … rank very high in our lay and clerical ministries reaching back to the 1950s,” said the Steffers. “For the sole reasons of age and the wish to spend our remaining years in the near proximity to our children, we would like to complete our work with you by the end of this calendar/fiscal year.”

“We reluctantly accept your resignation,” said Chairperson Melvia Fields of Paris. “You have made tremendous contributions to the betterment of Cane Ridge Meeting House, leading us through several important historical anniversary celebrations, improvements to our facilities, and raising awareness of the Shrine’s historical importance.”

A search committee was formed consisting of Fields, Vice Chairperson Elizabeth Short of Lexington, Ky., Walt Johnson of Lexington, and a representative from the Board’s Strategic Planning Committee.

An extensive church-wide search will begin immediately in the hope that the position will be filled before the end of 2006. Persons wishing to apply for the position should send a letter of application and resume to Melvia Fields, 626 Windsor Way, Paris, KY 40361.
