Two grants have been awarded to the Church Finance Council to partially fund its biennial $martcamp. Camp Director Ingrid Gonzalez expressed appreciation for the financial resources that assist in Church Finance Council’s “hopes of providing campers a memorable and life-changing experience”.

The Valparaiso Practice Grants Program has named $martcamp as the recipient of its 2005 Way to Live Challenge Grant. The program provides financial support for projects that help communities nurture a way of life shaped by Christian practices. The award, in the amount of $7,000, will be used towards scholarships for students of single-parent households.

The Black Leadership Projects Committee, through Disciples Home Missions, has awarded the $martcamp a $2,500 grant from its project fund. This grant will provide awards for African-American students interested in attending camp. The Black Leadership Projects Fund serves the interests of the black constituency of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Grants are awarded to projects that will develop, nurture and strengthen church leadership for African-American congregations.

The $martcamp, a two-week stewardship camp for high school juniors and seniors sponsored by the Church Finance Council, will be held in Indianapolis at Butler University in July of 2005. The camp helps young people link faith values with financial decisions. Church Finance Council is grateful for these contributions that will help in realizing the vision of developing Disciples young people into faithful Christian stewards.
