MANWORREN NAMED INTERIM IN THE SOUTHWEST REGION

INDIANAPOLIS, October 28, 2002 -- Donald B. Manworren has been named Interim Regional Minister for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Southwest.

In early 2002, Manworren retired as associate general minister for administration in the Office of GeneralManworren.jpg (40477 bytes) Minister and President. In this role Manworren was general manager of the General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) as well as manager and facilitator of numerous boards, committees and groups. His deep love of the church and passion for Christian unity, justice and reconciliation enable him to be an effective leader.

In addition to his work in the general church, Manworren served as executive coordinator for the Iowa Inter-Church Forum (Des Moines, Iowa), and Iowa pastorates in Waterloo, Urbandale, Keota, and student pastorates in Melbourne and Alburnett.

Manworren will begin his new position Nov. 1, 2002.

Manworren has a B.A. and B.D. from Drake University (Des Moines, Iowa), and StM from Yale University Divinity School (New Haven, Conn.). He has also received honorary Doctor of Divinity degrees from Drake University and Bethany (W. Va.) College.

He and his wife Elaine live in Plano, Texas. They have 3 children.
