Respond to the Call in Your Community on September 11 INDIANAPOLIS, August 23 - 9-11:Respond To the Call a program initiated by the Division of Homeland Ministries' Volunteers in Mission and Week of Compassion encourages Disciples to honor those lost on September 11, by working in their community. Richard L. Hamm, general minister and president, has joined with Dr. Sayyid Muhammad Syeed, general secretary of the Islamic Society of North America to create a joint statement of hope and understanding. The Disciples of Christ and the Islamic Society of North America, neighbors in the Indianapolis community, were logical partners for the development of better understanding during our national time of reflection on September 11. Hamm and Syeed both are encouraging their members to find meaningful ways to join together on September 11.
