Stone-Campbell Dialogue expands to local areas

Members of the Stone-Campbell Dialogue held their sixth meeting June 16-18 at Southeast Christian Church, Louisville.

The Dialogue, which has met twice a year since 2000, brings some twenty ministers and scholars from the Churches of Christ, Christian Churches/Churches of Christ, and the Disciples of Christ together for dialogue concerning their differences and their common concerns. The stated purpose of the Dialogue reads: "To develop relationships and trust within the three streams of the Stone-Campbell movement through worship and through charitable and frank dialogue, 'that the world may believe.'" 2002 Volunteers in Mission Summer Interns

Homeland Ministries has nine interns serving in Appalachia, Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries, and Disciple Mission Centers around the nation. Homeland Mission Interns host local congregations participating in Volunteers In Mission worktrips. Homeland Mission Interns are also serving their country as AmeriCorps members and earn education grants through their service this summer. There is a great need for leadership development in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Homeland Mission Interns receive the training and experience to make a difference in the world by revealing the light of Christ and by strengthening local congregations. This program is sponsored in part by the Week of Compassion. Go to the web at http://www.homeland.org/MISSIONS/VIM/Interns2002.htm to meet the interns.
