UNITED WAY CHARITY OF THE YEAR AWARD
PRESENTED TO ALL PEOPLES CHRISTIAN CENTER

All Peoples Christian Center recently received the 1998 United Way Community Charity Award for its outstanding efforts in implementing new, innovative and effective programs for those in need within its surrounding community. The award was presented at United Way’s Annual Meeting at the Pasadena Civic Center last month.

"My initial reaction was of honor and surprise," said Saundra Bryant, executive director at All peoples Christian Center. "This is a result of the combined efforts of our staff, volunteers and supporters, because we wouldn’t be able to provide these services for an extensive amount of time without the collective effort of people who are committed and dedicated to the mission of All Peoples."

Under her leadership, the agency provides residents in their area with multi-social services such as child care, job training, English classes, youth development, emergency food, recreation, spiritual leadership and counseling.

Bryant was also recognized for her efforts this past year in promoting United Way on community affairs programs and news segments.

"Without the efforts of people like Saundra Bryant and the services of agencies such as All People’s Christian Center," said Joe Haggerty, president of United Way of Greater Los Angeles, "many people in need within our community would not have the provisions that are basic to their lives and well-being.

United Way of Greater Los Angeles is a cost-efficient, volunteer-led organization. As the largest private funder of health and human services in the state of California, this year UWGLA will distribute nearly $46 million to a network of more than 250 Community Impact charities and other organizations which serve nearly 4 million people in need.
