THE INSTITUTE FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN FAITH AND LIFE

The year 2000, the new millennium, is within our grasp! Yes, we truly have a lot for which to praise and thank God. During the past two to three years, we have experienced the opportunity to periodically engage in visioning, design team meetings, and program strategizing for the creation of a new tomorrow! Much of what we have hoped, prayed and planned for is about to be unveiled!

The Institute for African American Christian Education, the educational component of the 16th Biennial Session of the National Convocation of the Christian Church (DOC) scheduled for August 11-15, 2000, is in process of becoming a clearing house for granting Continuous Education Units (CEU's). How exciting! Proposed workshop offerings for CEU's are: Elders, Diaconate, Teachers, Church Administrators, Church Growth, Social Justice, Family Ministry, Disciples History, Singles, Youth, Leadership Development, Spirituality and Children. Through your surveys and evaluations, we've heard you and we are trying to respond. Informational guidelines regarding procedures for acquiring CEU credits will be forth coming in a separate mailing.

The African American Christian Education Network, August 10-11, 2000, will host the second biennial "Pre-Convocation Christian Education Event!" The focus of the event will concentrate on the training and certifying of all teachers, such as: Sunday School, Bible Study, and Children's Church. Yes, you have asked about standard procedures, training, methods and strategies, qualification criteria, curriculum choices, certification and educational resources. Once again, not only did we hear you but we also listened to you! We are dedicating the entire pre-event to "Teachers and Those Desiring to Teach!"

We are counting on you to help us spread the word about these two major events in the life of our church!! Can we count on you?

"Behold, I will do a new thing in you; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?" Isaiah 43:19
