
Indianapolis - The Council on Christian Unity has hired the Rev. Thomas Quigley to focus in the area of regional and local ecumenism.
In this new role, Quigley will be working with CCU president, Robert Welsh, and with many regional and area clergy to provide a place of contact, communication, support and encouragement around ecumenical involvements, including the Disciples-UCC Partnership, Churches Uniting in Christ, statewide conciliar work, interfaith initiatives, dialogues within the Stone-Campbell family and with Roman Catholics, etc. One of Quigley's first tasks will be to contact regional and area ministers to gauge the ecumenical "climate" in each region, and how CCU might be of help or support.
Quigley has vast ecumenical experience, serving previously as the executive director of the Church Council of Greater Seattle for several years before taking early retirement. He also served local ecumenical agencies in five different regions over the past 31 years. Quigley is an ordained Disciples minister with many years of practical experience in the area of working with congregations and middle judicatories in their ecumenical life and commitments.
Quigley will serve on a part-time, contract staff basis. In an effort operate as efficiently as possible, CCU plans to farm-out various responsibilities to contract "specialists" in areas of the greatest need and challenge to CCU's overall efforts.
