In a statement given on April 18, 2010, at the annual meeting of the General Board of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), General Minister and President Sharon E. Watkins outlined her intention to serve another six year term, which would run from July 2011 to July 2017.
A review/search and call committee, now comprised of 11 people, was named by the Administrative Committee and announced at General Board. The search committee’s work includes forwarding a questionnaire about the ministry of the General Minister and President to a wide range of Disciples organizations and ministries. Following that process, the review/search and call committee will provide all relevant information from the church-wide survey to the General Minister and President by mid-September. At its October Administrative Committee meeting, the recommendation from the review/search and call committee will be reviewed and the AC will make a decision about the re-election based on the committee’s recommendation. The Administrative Committee’s recommendation will then go to the 2011 General Board.
