2010 Pastors Conference Offers Education and Relaxation
The 2010 Pastors Conference, Sept. 21-23, 2010 will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel, Mission Valley in sunny San Diego, Calif.! The $400 inclusive registration fee increases on April 1.
Pastors should make their reservations now to attend. Dr. Diana Butler Bass promises to be inspiring and informative as she talks about the transformation of the mainline church. Our three preachers, General Minister and President Sharon Watkins, Rev. Randy Spleth, and Rev. Juan Rodriguez, will bring a powerful word about ministry and the future of the church. Spleth is pastor of Geist Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Indianapolis, Ind. Rodriguez is pastor of Iglesia del Pueblo- Hope Center Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Hammond, Ind.
Bill Thomas, music director, will add his gift of music that weaves together the movement of the spirit in a unique and refreshing way.
The $400 registration fee includes two nights lodging, four meals, the conference fee and transportation from the San Diego airport to the hotel. For $99 plus tax per night, participants can extend their stay three days on either side of the conference.
The hotel is across the street from the San Diego Trolley. An all-day pass is $5. The trolley goes to the Gas Lamp District, Old Town San Diego, the San Diego Bay, Downtown, and many other places. On Wednesday afternoon, participants will enjoy an evening on their own to relax and rejuvenate.
“We recently held another meeting at the DoubleTree and the location is spectacular” commented General Minister and President Sharon Watkins, “I look forward to spending three days learning with and listening to the pastors.”
The climate in San Diego will provide for a relaxing pace for the conference. Meals will be served outside under tents on the tennis courts. Participants can enjoy evening conversations around fire pits by the pool. The weather in September is usually in the upper 70’s to low 80’s with comfortable evenings.
The schedule has been designed so participants can travel to San Diego on Tuesday morning and enjoy a reception from 3-5 pm during registration before the opening dinner and worship. The conference will conclude at 11 am on Thursday, so participants can take flights after 12:30 p.m. The hotel is approximately 10 minutes from the San Diego airport.
Come and learn. Come and rest. Come and renew your spirit!
