Mission Alignment Coordinating Council

At its April 2008 meeting, the General Board called into being a Mission Alignment Coordinating Council (MACC) to lead us in imagining a church organized around our stated mission priorities.

You can now read the report of MACC’s work in which it outlines recommendations that will help chart the direction for continued work in aligning Disciples organizational life around mission.

Review the report and nine recommendations that were approved by the General Board during its meeting in Indianapolis on April 18-21.

You are also encouraged to read a letter from General Minister and President Sharon Watkins, written in summer 2008, in which she invites Disciples to become part of the conversation on alignment for mission. There also is information on this site that provides examples of how Disciples in the early 21st Century might be organized to accomplish our priorities of 1,000 new congregations, 1,000 transformed congregations, leadership development to serve these congregations, and our pro-reconciliation/anti-racism initiative.

News and information about the work of the MACC over the past year is included below as well.

Your comments, questions, suggestions, and ideas are requested. Please submit them to Newell Williams, Chair of the MACC and Moderator of the General Assembly at macc@ogmp.disciples.org.
