Seeking to serve the Amarillo, Texas community, the Hi-Plains Area of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Southwest established the Chalice Abbey Project, a non-profit organization that will open and operate the Chalice Abbey Fair Trade Emporium and Chalice Abbey Center for Spirituality and the Arts. The project is funded by a gift to the Hi-Plains Area from the former members of Arden Road Christian Church, which donated its assets when it closed.
