In research done throughout the Regions, Camps and Conferences are the most important programs the church offers to our children and youth. It is a priority! Yet we continue to schedule our Assemblies in the Summer--and now in the middle of July. It actually effects two weeks of the summer camping program. Doesn't anyone recognize or acknowledge that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing?

Orlando is okay just as long as we don't end up discussing any "Mickey Mouse" issues . . .

Larry - thank you for your comments. Summer is actually the cheapest time to be in Orlando for conventions which is different pricing than vacations or rooms at places like Disney. October to April are the most expensive times to host a convention in Orlando because of the business community. People from the potential host region are always in on the process. Our hotel rates for Orlando are the cheapest we've been able to negotiate in years.

As a Minister in the Central District of Florida, I wonder why none of us we consulted about this choice. Summer is the Second most expensive time to be in Orlando, and usually the people working the Assemblies as volunteers come from the district the event is held in?? Many questions & concerns from many of the clergy in this district about this choice.

Flight-wise and hotel-wise, Orlando should be relatively inexpensive in the summer. Has anyone else noticed that Resolution 0918 calls for changing to Fall assemblies by 2013 if possible, yet this resolution is on the Agenda before Resolution 0918. It would make sense to push back 0927 until after 0918 has been addressed.
