Learning Opportunities

General Assembly offers a wide range of adult learning opportunities (many of which offer participants Continuing Education Units from Christian Theological Seminary), with a special focus on equipping congregations for mission and ministry. Look around your congregation. Who has passion and a little energy who might benefit from rubbing elbows with a few other passionate, energetic people? Bring THOSE people to General Assembly.

Participants have lots of options. Below, find descriptions of two learning models: Learning Tracks and Resource Groups – as well as information on how to reserve a seat in your choice of these offerings.

Faithful Conversations

Additionally, Assembly Disciples will participate in two conversation models that marry business sessions with conversation-style learning models. Learn more about Faithful Conversations on Peace, Unity and War, and a special plenary program on Immigration.

Reservations

Reservations for learning opportunities at the 2011 General Assembly are now closed. Remember that reservations are not required to participate in learning opportunities so you may still be able to get a seat at the learning track or resource group you want to attend.

Learning Tracks

These intensive sessions offer participants the opportunity to learn - from one another, and from specialists - how to engage in faithful, effective and innovative ministry in a changing landscape for mission. Not your "garden-variety" workshops, these multi-faceted, multimedia experiences involve up to five hours on cutting edge topics of great importance to Disciples today. Check back soon for updates on each track. Continuing Education Unit Credits will be offered.

Resource Groups

How do Resource Groups differ from learning tracks?

Resource groups offer participants a their choice of single-issue workshops on specific, focused topics.

Choose from 50 Resource Groups ranging from one- to two-and-a-half hours long, on a selection of topics under these general categories: Justice, Leadership, Mission, Spiritual Disciplines and Vital Congregations.
