Business

In addition to worship, education and fellowship, members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) gather to conduct the business of the Church. Business sessions will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 1:15pm-5:30pm. During these sessions, Disciples will engage in worshipful work by receiving the reports from various ministries and by voting on items of business presented before the General Assembly.

Resolutions are a type of business item brought before the General Assembly for discussion and vote.

There are five classifications of General Assembly Business items:

  • Reports, which keep the church informed about the  work being done in the name of Disciples
  • Operational items, such as naming moderators for the next biennium.
  • Sense-of- the-Assembly resolutions, which speak to the other expressions of the Church (general ministries, regions, congregations) and often call the Church to action.
  • Study documents and Items for Reflection and Research, call the Church to study an issue.
Please read the guidelines on how to submit General Resolutions to learn more about the process.
