The E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation has awarded Brite Divinity School a grant of $250,000 to fund a five year Carpenter Gender, Sexuality, and Justice Initiative to begin this 2011-2012 academic year. The Carpenter Initiative will not only help cover the salary costs of the faculty member who directs the program, but will also support courses at Brite that address these issues, and fund programmatic initiatives in the wider community. Dr. Joretta Marshall, Professor of Pastoral Theology and Pastoral Care, will serve as Director of the Carpenter Gender, Sexuality, and Justice Initiative.
