A Disciples pastor whose church has demonstrated outstanding stewardship has been called to serve as the new Minister of Faith and Giving. Bruce Barkhauer, senior minister of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Jeffersonville, Ind., will assume his new position beginning on Feb. 1.

Trees to be Planted at Indianapolis Church Coincides with Greening of Assembly

The Jarvis Christian College Board of Trustees has selected Dr. Cornell Thomas to serve as the eleventh President of Jarvis Christian College. After conducting a nationwide search, and a series of interviews, Dr. Thomas emerged as the successor to Dr. Sebetha Jenkins.

Jarvis Christian College of Hawkins, Texas, Receives $250,000 Scholarship Endowment From Northway Christian Church of Dallas
Northway Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Dallas has made a $250,000 gift to Jarvis Christian College, a fully accredited, private liberal arts institution in Hawkins, Texas. The gift will be used to endow a new permanent scholarship at the historically black college.

The Mission Alignment Coordinating Council (MACC) appointed by the General Board of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) met in Fort Worth, Texas, Jan. 21 – 23. In this, its fourth meeting, the council worked toward finalizing recommendations to be presented to the General Board in April.

Disciples Minister To Teach University Classes On Mediation
A Disciples minister and chaplain will teach a series of classes in mediation beginning at the end of January and running to August. Ralph Steele, an ordained Disciples minister and a chaplain with the Waco, Texas Police Department, will teach the classes at the University of Texas at Arlington beginning Jan. 30.
