My brothers and sisters in Christ,
Imagine what 10,000 Disciples praying daily can do for our church! That's an inspiring thought for me! As Disciples of Christ, we are in the midst of a transformation process that makes us the mission-oriented church needed for these times. As society changes our church is also changing to be a meaningful part of future generations and to fulfill Christ's mission around the world.
We are indeed in a period of transition and transformation. We see a growing sense of common mission in service of God through the whole church. We're seeing even more clearly that God's transformation will come through our own deepening Christian spirituality and mobilizing Disciples worldwide to even more exciting Mission.
Imagine 10,000 Disciples Praying daily for our church, our mission, our faith and for our church's leadership. Imagine the focused power of daily prayer by Disciples.
I invite you to be part of 10,000 Disciples Praying daily for the church, the General Minister and President and other church leaders by committing to take time to pray daily for the Disciples future and Mission. I ask you to let me know that you're committed to 10,000 Disciples Praying Daily so we can celebrate together answered prayers. We will communicate with you through e-mails and newsletters. We are starting 10,000 Disciples Praying during the Lenten season; please remember that we will continue this discipline of prayer throughout the year.
Such focused daily prayer is an exciting new thing we are doing. We will demonstrate to the world the power of prayer as it leads us in exciting new ways for the transformation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ.) This is why Isaiah 43 has become one of my favorite Bible passages: "For I am doing a new thing says the Lord. Now it springs up. Do you not perceive it?" (NIV)
Join me -- and 9,999 other Disciples -- as we unite our hearts, minds and faith to become 10,000 Disciples Praying daily.
